This summer has been amazing. Well, it would have been even more amazing if we were all allowed to be outside and enjoying it. However, the heat that we’re experiencing isn’t anything new. We tend to forget what it does to our bodies and to our health. We tend to worry about so many other aspects of life, that we fail at optimal health care.

The other day we went kayaking and it was absolutely amazing. Who knew that kayaking was such a crazy core & leg workout? I sure in the heck did not. Arms sure, back muscle, well duh, but I never thought core or legs. I used every muscle in my body and it felt great. We spent just about 2 hours in the sun and when we got home, I was honestly confused on why I was not having problems like I normally do when we are out doing heavy activities.

To my realization, it was because I made sure the day and the morning before we went kayaking to drink a lot of water which helped with my optimal health for the entire day. I remember from when I was in high school and playing sports that I had to continue drinking water otherwise I was going to be in pain for a lot longer than just a couple hours after practices or games.

We tend to forget what it does to our bodies and to our health. We tend to worry about so many other aspects of life, that we fail at optimal health care.

Hydration is the elephant in the room, that secret sauce that keeps us all looking young and keeping your optimal health in line. Too many of us don’t understand the importance of hydration, so we’re here to tell you why. It's time to get a little bit of science and offer you some simple lifestyle solutions.

Stimulates Brain Function

Did you know that your brain is about 3 lbs and most of it is water!? Yes, 75-85% of your brain is made of H2O, yet most of us don't realize this. Scientific studies have found that just 1% of dehydration can negatively affect your cognitive skills. This can mean that your brain shrinks in size, and you feel more irritable. Basic things like hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, and cooperation among colleagues and friends, become challenging and can hurt your optimal health. You mustn’t exacerbate this problem, by drinking a coffee that makes you feel more ‘charged’ and alert. Drink water instead and you’ll find you become sharper and less sleepy. 

Lower your alcohol intake

We don’t want to be boring and act like your nagging grandma, but seriously, alcohol doesn’t help your body in the slightest! In fact, drinking alcohol makes you dehydrate very rapidly. Studies have shown that your liver requires more water content to work properly and flush out the toxins that are produced as waste products in your liver.

This can cause you to become thirsty, hot, and dry your skin very rapidly also. You can avoid this by drinking the equivalent of water in alcohol. So if you want to drink one beer, drink one glass of water after it. Yes, you will be going to the bathroom more often, but you won’t damage your brain, liver, or skin as much.

Toss the Carbonated Drinks

Just like alcohol, carbonated drinks can dehydrate you extremely fast which does not help your optimal health. The sugars, even in diet drinks, can do a lot of damage to your liver, stomach, and beyond. Instead of drinking sodas, you should grab something like water or even green tea. They both help with hydration.

Green tea has more of these properties than the traditional black teas because of the way it is processed It goes through little or no processing (fermenting or oxidizing) this brings out the antioxidants and vitamins but will reduce the stimulant quality (caffeine) of this tea.

A good flush

Ever feel like you’re full of battery acid or just tired all the time? Well, it could be because you have too many toxins and other waste products in your body. This could have accumulated over the years or perhaps just one wild holiday. To get back to your normal hydrated self, take a trip to a Reset IV service.
