We are in the process of updating our home into a more modern, yet rustic farmhouse feel. In doing so I have been researching how I can create a beautiful modernly aesthetic living room that is still highlighting the farmhouse charm that our home has.

Last summer we tore out built-in cabinets to open up our living room a bit more. In doing that, we found a second front door. Which is not uncommon at all in older farmhouses. So now our plan is to strip the door down and preserve it. Hopefully, we are able to open it up so we can remove all of the paint on the other side also and we are going to do some stained glass so you don't see the back of the outside wall.

SURPRISE! We have a hidden door!

Since our home is almost 130 years old, we knew we were going to find some hidden treasures and character. But finding ways to highlight them while creating a modern feel may be tricky.

Are you thinking about making some changes to your home?

If so, then you should consider upgrading your home with a modern aesthetic. You can get started by refreshing and upgrading the space to create a modernly aesthetic living room. Here are some of the best options for this part of your home when you’re aiming for a modern design.

Create A Beautiful Modernly Aesthetic Living Room

The Right Coffee Table

First, you should make sure that you are choosing the right centerpiece feature for this part of your home. Ideally, this should be a coffee table. A piece like this can bring the room together and complete the overall aesthetic. There is a range of different designs and styles that you can choose from with this feature for your home. For instance, you might want to opt for a glass nest of tables that separate into smaller pieces.

Laminate Flooring

Instead of options for carpets in your living area, you should consider choosing laminate flooring. The big benefit of laminate flooring is that it is minimal so it is perfect for a modern home design. Another practical benefit that you might want to explore would be that it is easy to maintain. As such, it is the perfect choice for a typical family home. You could also opt for something a tad more luxurious such as granite flooring. However, it is worth noting that laminate can be used to replicate the aesthetic of a range of materials like this.

Wall Art

While a minimal design is often going to be part of a modern area in your home, it’s important to note that you still need to breathe some life into the design of your home. One of the best ways to do this is to make sure that you do think about adding some wall decals to the room.

Again, these come in a range of different designs so you’re sure to be able to find one that is going to be perfect for your space. The big benefit of wall decals is that they are easy to put up and take down as you choose. You don’t have to worry about this making it difficult to change the room design over time.

Other Features

Finally, you might want to think about other design choices that you can add to create a modernly aesthetic living room like this in your home. One of the options that you could consider is a 360-degree fireplace. While this is an expensive addition to any home, it could look incredible as part of your property and stand out beautifully. You just need to speak to a contractor about installing this the right way.

We hope this helps you understand the best ways to create the ideal modernly aesthetic living room in your home. This could even make your home look more valuable in a grander sense and ensure that buyers are impressed by what they discover if you choose to put your home on the market. Alternatively, it might just ensure that you do impress any guests and help you fall back in love with your home design.
