When it comes to healthy lifestyle habits, it can seem daunting if you are just getting started. We all know the benefits of increased energy, longer life, and happier mental state that come with healthy living, but sometimes getting to that place can seem overwhelming.

Taking small, easy steps to healthier choices is the best way to change your lifestyle. Trying to jump in with too much at once will just leave you frustrated. Here are some easy things you can incorporate into your life to help get you on track.

Educate Yourself

Before you can move towards healthy lifestyle habits, you first need to understand why it is important and how to get there. There are a lot of resources online, including online nursing programs, if you are finding yourself very interested and dedicated to healthy lifestyle habits. There are also a lot of articles and studies you can access to fully educate yourself on the best way to get healthy.

When it comes to building healthy lifestyle habits one easy way to start on your health journey is to start drinking enough water. Most people do not know how much water they should be drinking, and you will probably be surprised to know how far you are from where you should be ideally. An easy way to calculate how much water you should be drinking is to halve your body weight. That number equals how many ounces of water you should be drinking. For example, someone who weighs 160lbs should be drinking 80 ounces of water each day.

Once you know how much water you should drink, the trick is to track it to see where you are and set appropriate goals. Finding a convenient water bottle to keep with you at all times will help you stay hydrated. You should know how many ounces fit in the water bottle, and then you can set a goal for how many times to fill it up each day.

Sleep is when your body regenerates and recovers from the hard work you do each day, both physically and mentally. Not getting enough sleep will have direct and negative consequences for your body. Getting an adequate amount of sleep is one of the easiest ways to build up healthy lifestyle habits.

You may feel like you cannot sacrifice any more time to sleep than you do, but if you adjust your sleeping patterns, you will likely see an increase in energy and productivity during the day, which will more than account for the lost hours.

Most people cringe when they hear exercise, but it doesn’t need to be something you hate. There are so many ways to exercise, and the key is to find something that makes you feel good and boost your healthy lifestyle habits. When you enjoy how you exercise, you will be much more likely to actually do it.

When choosing how to exercise, you should take into account how much your body can handle, your current levels of activity, and how much time you can devote to it. If you are just getting started on your health journey, then start small. Going for a walk on your lunch break or when you get home from work will help you to lay a foundation and habit to incorporate exercise into your life.

I am a wife and mother of two sons. We live in Rural Northeast Ohio with our 2 cats, 2 dogs & many fish. I love all things Supernatural, Harry Potter, elephants, sunflowers, crystals, occult, crafting, coffee, wine, and online shopping. Have a TikTok, PokemonGo & Elder Scrolls addiction, I've always loved plants, recently I became a houseplant mom, and am currently growing over 15 varieties in our home! Now if I could get my outside gardens to flourish I will be happy. When I'm not tending to the home, pets, plants, or hanging out on the couch catching up on my shows, I'm doing some type of crafting or DIY project. (Or I'm pestering my husband in the barn.)
